The actuarial science major provides students with the necessary background coursework for a career as an actuary. Actuaries are professionals who assemble and analyze data to estimate the probability and likely cost of an event such as death, sickness, injury, disability or loss of property. It is consistently one of the most secure and highest-paying professions available, even during tough economic times. This program offers an opportunity for students to develop the skills expected of entry level actuaries; equipping them with the tools to help companies and businesses to better anticipate and manage risk. The program also prepares students for the first five professional actuarial credentialing exams (Exam P, Exam FM, Exam IFM, Exam LTAM or Exam STAM).
