The Mathematics Department of UQAM brings together more than forty teachers. Located in downtown Montreal, near Place-Des-Arts and within the Pierre-Dansereau Science Complex of the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), the department welcomes more than 700 students in its multiple programs undergraduate and graduate.
The activities of the department, whether in research or teaching, cover a wide spectrum, including the didactics of mathematics at all school levels, basic mathematics, statistics, actuarial science and financial mathematics.
The Mathematics Department of UQAM hosts the Institute of Mathematical Sciences ( ISM ), a consortium of eight Quebec universities whose objective is to promote university research and training in mathematical sciences. The department is also a member of the Mathematical Research Center ( CRM ), a global hub for research in mathematics.
The Bachelor of Actuarial Science in Mathematics Department is recognized as an Actuarial Center of Excellence (CAE) by the Society of Actuaries and also offers exemptions for professional exams as part of the Canadian Institute's Accreditation Program (PAU) Actuaries (ICA).
