The department offers three undergraduate majors; in Mathematics, in Actuarial Science, and in Financial Mathematics (BSFM). On the graduate level we offer a Master of Science in Financial Engineering (MFE).
The major in mathematics can include a wide range of courses geared to your interests. Both our Actuarial Science and BSFM majors include courses in the Zicklin School of Business along with a strong mathematics curriculum. We encourage you to consider these majors and to visit and talk with our mathematics advisors, or any member of our department concerning these majors. Students majoring in other disciplines may choose to minor in mathematics; a wide range of courses is available, often chosen to complement the major.
The Master of Science Program will provide students with the mathematical background required for modeling and solving problems that arise in the financial services industry. The program combines a rigorous treatment of the underlying mathematical concepts with a strong emphasis on computational techniques and their practical application in finance.
